The American Legion Auxiliary is a remarkable organization with dedicated women across the country, devoted to America's veterans, young people and communities.

The women of the American Legion Auxiliary make a difference in the lives of all Americans.  They educate children, organize community events and help our nation's veterans through legislative action and volunteerism.  The American Legion Auxiliary is the world's largest women's patriotic service organization with nearly 1 million members in 10,100 communities.  Auxiliary members are a unique group of women, joined in the fellowship of volunteerism, patriotism and dedication to veterans, young people and communities.

    Text Box: Dear Counselor:
Since the inception of the Utah Girls’ State program in 1947, the American Legion Auxiliary has sponsored and provided our young women with the opportunity to learn first-hand how their state and local government works. The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic organization serving veterans and their families.  Utah Girls’ State is a nonpartisan program that teaches young women responsible citizenship and instills a deep appreciation for our great Nation.
The Girls’ State program is offered to approximately 300 Utah high school girls, who have just completed their junior year.  The selection process is handled by the members of the American Legion Auxiliary and after the girls are selected they are treated to an intensive week of study working together as self-governing citizens on the campus of Southern Utah University.  The program is so well respected that the University offers the graduates 3 hours of concurrent enrollment credit in addition to granting numerous scholarships worth tens of thousands of dollars.
This letter is to let you know that your school will be contacted by a representative from Girls’ State.  The 2010 Utah Girls’ State session will be held June 7-12, 2010.
Registration & Administrative Fee: $320
Transportation fee (if applicable): $75
We would appreciate your help in disseminating the materials to your student body. American Legion Auxiliary members will be contacting you with more information after January 1, 2010.
If you have any questions about this or any other American Legion Auxiliary or American Legion program, please do not hesitate to visit the Utah website at www.utlegion.org.  If you have questions about the Utah Girls’ State you may call the Department of Utah, 801-539-1015.
Sincerely,
