MEMBERSHIP

          I hope everyone is surviving our hard winter.  The weather has made it even harder to get out and visit with members.  You have all been doing a good job renewing membership and recruiting new members.  We have been meeting our goals even with the cold and snow!

          Jim Fiedler, from national membership staff, came out to do training sessions for us.  Jim has a lot of different ways, when you’re talking membership, to approach our members and potential new members.  I wish we could have better attendance at these training sessions.  Jim has been working with members all over the state trying to transfer Post 8 members to the Posts in the areas that they live.  He has also been recruiting new members.  Jim always does an outstanding job for us.

          We just finished up the Department Oratorical Contest.  These young people really worked hard learning the Constitution and realize why it still stands today.  It also makes them understand why we have freedom in this great country!

          We need to start on recruiting Boys State candidates.  These boys have many other programs and activities that they’re in.  If you don’t recruit them early they make other commitments.  Our post used last years Boys Staters to help recruit this year’s boys.
