    Ladies and Gents:
Please see the two messages below concerning the American Legion's Child Welfare Foundation (CWF) support for 2011. The first is from Mr. Jeff Frain, the NEC of Arizona and former chair of the CWF and the second is from Mr. Dennis Boland, CWF President. Also mentioned is the current Chairman of the Child Welfare Foundation, Mr. John Mejia who is doing a bang up job and is a real ball of fire. John came up with the "CAT" or Childrens Action Team that directly supports the CWF. Each and everyone of us needs to belong to the CAT Team. Way to go John...!

Utah has written into our Constitution that one dollar ($1.00) of our annual dues goes to CWF. I have accepted Jeff's challenge for Utah to donate $2.00 vice our normal $1.00 this year. This is a most worthwhile cause as EVERY DOLLAR goes toward supporting those childres with a need within our great nation.

Please take special note of Mr. Dennis Boland's message. Dennis is the President of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation and has taken note that the western caucus has led this challenge for several of the past consecutive years donations cycles. Let's show him again the absolute truth in our founding statement; "If you want to see the best, look to the West". I've seen several others accept the  challenge complete with counter challenges from within the western caucus, so the gauntlet has been thrown down. Go guys, go...!

Please feel free to call if you have questions, comments or concerns. Thanks and lets make this a real challenge that will only benefit the CHILDREN of our Great Nation. To make this challenge more interesting, please allow me to throw in the first $50.00 out of pocket, anyone care to match (or beat) it...? come on guys and gals, it is for a great cause...!

PS: If anyone would like to make a cash donation off line, please make the checks payable to "Sons of the American Legion ~ Utah" and put CWF in the "for" block at the bottom left of your check and we'll ensure it gets off to CWF.

Jeff, I don't know how I can every thank the Sons of The American Legion. When you think you run out of Ideas to raise money, you can always count on the SAL to come up with new and innovative ideas. You guys are truly amazing and I don't know what the Foundation would do with out you. The best part about it is, it's not about us or we but about giving children a second chance at life. Think of the power you all hold in your hands to possibly reform a child into healthy and vibrant person. Many times we do things with out praise, but only the self satisfaction of helping someone attain a better life enables us to work harder and achieve more. I can only say that I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do. I hope you know that if I could give you all better accolades I would do so.

I say as the N.E.C from Arizona, I challenge all Western Region National Executive Committeeman to except this challenge and if you’re Detachment doesn’t meet the $2.00 goal, the N.E.C. from that Detachment must serve all the Detachments who made this Challenge a fine drink of scotch…..What say you Western Region?  Arizona accepts!

If your Detachment is willing, please confirm by replying to all Western Region Detachments.

    Jeff,
Are you ready for this Challenge?

CWF is the Best in the West

There's Dust swirling in the West, the spurs are starting to dig in, everyone knows "You want the best look to the West". We know what has to be done, the job calls for everyone to roll up their sleeves and do what we do best, ride out to every squadron and round up all the donations and make the Western Region the leaders of the Child Welfare Foundation.
I challenge all Detachments to reach their goal of $2.00 per capita. To the detachments that reach this goal, I have a case of "12 year old Scotch" and I will give “1” bottle to each Detachment that achieves the $2.00 goal at our Minnesota convention. The time of hibernation is over and now we set our goal on the prize. Let's make this the best CWF Year ever.
